The year 2024 marks a series of significant milestones in the Ancient Capital. Besides the historic event of becoming a centrally-governed city, Hue is also a destination for major investors with groundbreaking and finalized mega-projects, contributing to elevating the status of the sixth centrally-governed city in the country.

On the morning of January 14, Kim Long Motor Hue Joint Stock Company and Changan Automobile Group officially announced the plan to build the Kim Long Truong An Vietnam passenger car manufacturing plant (5-7 seats).

On the occasion of welcoming New Year and the Lunar New Year 2025, the Year of Snake, on the night of January 14, Hue City People’s Committee held a new year meeting party with the participation of international tourists, volunteers, experts, and foreign investors working in the city area.

Deputy Prime Minister Le Thanh Long recently signed a decision approving the plan to implement the healthcare network development strategy for the 2021- 2030 period, prioritizing the development of six hospitals to meet international standards, including Hue Central Hospital (HCH). In 2024, Thua Thien Hue General Library digitized 25,610 pages of Han-Nom documents (Sino-Vietnamese Demotic), equivalent to 584 document items. This digitization effort was focused on the two districts of Phong Dien and Quang Dien.

Hue becoming a centrally-governed municipality not only presents an opportunity for urban transformation, but also contributes to the comprehensive development of its economy and society, ensuring better implementation of the task of preserving and promoting Hue's heritage values ​​and cultural identity. However, alongside these opportunities, there are intertwined challenges that force Hue to have strategies, development mechanisms and continuous innovation.

This was one of the highlights shared at a conference summarizing activities in 2024 and deploying tasks in 2025 of Hue City Hotel Association, which took place on the late afternoon of January 10. Attending the conference were leaders of departments, agencies of Hue City, Vietnam Tourism Association, and Hue City Tourism Association.

On the morning of January 9, the Department of Tourism in collaboration with Chan May Port Joint Stock Company and Saigontourist Travel Services Co., Ltd held a program of welcoming the first cruise ship and tourists to Hue City by sea in 2025.
