The tournament gathered nearly 550 athletes from 27 countries and territories, competing across various weight classes in both the senior and U21 championship divisions.

After a day of competition, Van Suu secured a bronze medal in the Duo Open and placed fifth in the Fighting event in the 69kg weight class.

“Van Suu delivered an excellent and unexpected result, surpassing the initial goal of finishing in the top 8 overall. If he maintains his current form, qualifying for the 33rd SEA Games later this year is well within reach”, said Coach Chu Minh Tuan, Head Coach of Hue Jujitsu team and coach of Vietnam national Jujitsu team.

Originally trained in Karate, Van Suu joined Hue Jujitsu team in 2021. As part of the Hue Jiujitsu team, he claimed a gold medal at the 2022 National Sports Games and another gold at the 2024 Southeast Asian Championship. In January 2025, he was officially selected for the Vietnamese national Jujitsu team.
