On the morning of January 21, Hue Central Hospital announced that on January 6, 2026, the hospital marked a significant milestone in Vietnamese medicine. For the first time, surgeons successfully performed a simultaneous surgery to remove two giant polycystic kidneys and perform a kidney transplant. This success not only opens up new hope for patients with end-stage renal failure, but also confirms the ability to master intensive organ transplantation techniques by Vietnamese medical teams.

The “Restructuring the Tourism Sector to Meet the Requirements of Becoming a Key Economic Sector” plan, approved under Decision No. 1685/QD-TTg dated December 5th, 2018 by the Prime Minister, has established an important policy framework for the comprehensive renewal of the tourism sector. I did not grow up in a family devoted solely to farming, yet my childhood held a clear and gentle chapter shaped by the cycles of rain and sun in my grandparents’ fields. Those years, and the memories they carry, have left a lasting mark, so that even now, I am stirred by an inexpressible emotion whenever I see farmers busily preparing for a new sowing season.

The agricultural fairs and highland markets organized by the City Farmers’ Association toward the end of 2025 have contributed to introducing and promoting local agricultural products that meet VietGAP and OCOP standards, as well as specialty products of ethnic minority communities in mountainous areas, giving them greater opportunities to reach wider markets.

The year 2026, the first year of implementing Resolution 72-NQ/TW on breakthrough solutions for protecting and improving public health, marks a new turning point for healthcare in Hue City. Building on the strong foundation of Hue Central Hospital, Hue University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Hue University; and a primary healthcare system undergoing comprehensive reform, Hue is steadily affirming its position as a center for advanced, specialized medical care, with a vision toward becoming a regional hub in Southeast Asia.

On the afternoon of January 12, Hue City Employment Service Center held a conference to deploy its tasks for 2026, combined with a celebration of its 35th anniversary.

Following its technical operation phase in August 2025, Vietravel Group organized the Grand Opening of Hué Plaza on the morning of January 11. This event marks the point at which the project is fully completed and officially operational.

Surpassing thousands of projects, a group of students from Hue University of Agriculture and Forestry, Hue University, won the Encouragement Award at the “27th National Euréka Student Scientific Research Award 2025” with the project “Research and fabrication of carbon quantum dots from rice husks in the field of agricultural science.”

On the afternoon of January 9, the Department of Tourism held a conference to review its work in 2025 and roll out tasks for the tourism sector in 2026.

The year 2026 opens the 2026–2030 period, marked by increasingly fierce competition to attract resources, talent, and visitors, while Hue cannot pursue rapid urbanization or heavy industry. Hue’s path must be its own: taking heritage, culture, landscape, and ways of life as deep, distinctive, and sustainable advantages; taking creativity and experience as driving forces; and placing the people of Hue at the center of all development policies.
