In a joy of a significant historical moment, as the goal of the entire political system and local people which is making Thua Thien Hue a centrally-governed municipality come true, Thua Thien Hue Newspaper would like to review and highlight through photos some key projects that mark the province’s development with a consistent and unified point of view: Building a centrally-governed municipality based on the preservation and promotion of the values of typical heritage, culture, and history of the Hue land.

That is the theme of an exhibition jointly organized by Thua Thien Hue Museum of History and Ho Chi Minh City Museum. The exhibition opened on the morning of November 29th at Ho Chi Minh City Museum (65 Ly Tu Trong Street, Ben Nghe Ward, District 1, Ho Chi Minh City).

In 2024, there has been six individuals who donated artifacts, and nine establishments and individuals involved in producing traditional Hue handicrafts supported the Thua Thien Hue Museum of History in its exhibition and display efforts to promote Hue’s cultural heritage to the public and visitors.

The book launch discussion for “Ham Nghi: The Exiled Emperor - An Artist in Algiers”, with the participation of author and speaker Amandine Dabat, a PhD in Art History and the 5th descendant of Emperor Ham Nghi, took place on November 5 at Duyet Thi Duong Theater, Hue Imperial Citadel.

More than 32,000 artifacts from the Thua Thien Hue History Museum are being meticulously transferred from Quoc Tu Giam, or the Imperial Academy, to a new facility at 268 Dien Bien Phu Street, Hue City.

Combining history and modern technology, Hai Van Frontier Post (Hai Van Quan) relic is offering visitors a novel exploration experience.

On the afternoon of September 28th, the Department of Education and Training, in collaboration with Hue Monuments Conservation Center and the Provincial Museum of History, organized a heritage visit and experience at the Imperial Citadel for students who received the title of “Honored student of the school" for the 2023 - 2024 academic year.

“The fact that “Knowledge of Tailoring and Wearing Hue Ao Dai” having just been enlisted as a National Intangible Cultural Heritage not only is an honor and pride, but at the same time, affirms that Hue Ao Dai always carries the traditional cultural values of the nation and has a strong vitality throughout history,” emphasized Mr. Phan Thanh Hai, Member of the National Cultural Heritage Council, Director of the provincial Department of Culture and Sports when sharing the story about the new recognition of it with Thua Thien Hue Weekly.

This event was organized on the morning of August 28th by Hue city Center for Culture, Information, and Sports in collaboration with Hue University of Arts.

Thua Thien Hue, with a coastline stretching 120 km, is vulnerable to typhoons and storm surges from the East Sea. Throughout history, Hue has endured severe storms, floods, and droughts, which have had significant impacts on human life, architectural structures, and the natural environment.
