20 posters featuring pictures of heritage, cultural landscapes, typical global values of Hue heritage were recently introduced along the entrance and exit way of Phu Bai International Airport in a promotion campaign by Hue Monuments Conservation Center.

The collection and digitization of Han-Nom (Sino-Demotic characters) documentary heritage has been carried out for many years in many clans, private residences, villages and communes throughout the province. This quiet work is still being pursued by staff of the Provincial General Library, in the hope of preserving the ancient documents passed down by our ancestors.

“We will propose to the provincial authorities to consider and coordinate with the French Embassy to Vietnam to agree on a draft of cooperation agreement with the French School of the Far East (EFEO) to exchange and cooperate in data searching and managing, establishing an electronic database and data on heritage digitization, that add more sources of original documents to Hue heritage,” shared Mr. Hoang Viet Trung, Director of Hue Monuments Conservation Center (HMCC) after returning from his business trip to France.

The Decree clearly states that the Hue Heritage Conservation Fund is a national fund established by the Government and assigned to Thua Thien - Hue province to directly manage, in order to mobilize resources to invest in the restoration, conservation, and development of Hue heritage value and investment in works and items that have not been funded by the state budget or allocated insufficient funds.

On October 16th, after flood water receded, many tourists were able to to resume their visits to the Citadel and many other heritage sites.

This message was emphasized by Mr. Phan Thanh Hai, Director of the Provincial Department of Culture and Sports when sharing on the afternoon of August 18th at the forum “Digital transformation - Promoting the strength of culture and heritage - creating momentum for developing a digital economy” within the framework of Provincial Digital Transformation Week 2022.

Hue Monuments Conservation Center and the Education and Training Department of Hue city just signed an agreement on incorporating heritage, cultural and traditional arts education into school’s curriculum.

After having gone through 13 king reigns, the Nguyen Dynasty left to Hue heritage a huge volume of mausoleums and royal tombs, many of which bring unique historical, architectural, and cultural values such as Gia Long, Minh Mang, Tu Duc, and Khai Dinh royal tombs, etc. This is one of the factors helping Hue to be always attractive to tourists.

“Since before 2020, in Hue, despite the large number of private collections, not many non-public museums have been formed and operated. That was also why I was attached to those private collections, spent time giving support and professional advice in the process of finalizing scientific files, procedures to apply for permits for non-public museum operation.”

The conservation of architecture and heritage city (HC) landscape plays a critical role in concretizing the target of turning Hue into a centrally-run city. On this issue, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Van Phuong had a talk about the conservation of architecture and HC landscape.
