As heritage cities around the world search for sustainable development models, the concept of a “living museum city” is emerging as a direction many localities aspire to. With its distinctive cultural heritage and unique identity, Hue has every potential to become a typical example of this model.

It is the season of late spring transitioning into early summer, when cicadas begin their rhythmic chorus amidst the leafy canopies. During this season, from late March to early April, Hue still carries a slight chill in late night and early morning, offering many cool parts throughout the day. Hue’s elevation to a centrally-governed municipality from early 2025 has taken place in a special context: the country is undergoing a major administrative restructuring, reducing the number of provinces and cities from 63 to 34. While 52 other localities are expanding through mergers, Hue has chosen a different path - no consolidation, no expansion by aggregation, but an upgrade built on its existing identity and structural foundation.

On the evening of March 3rd (15th day of the first lunar month), at Ngo Mon Square - Hue Imperial Citadel, as part of Hue Festival 2026 and Hue Poetry Day, the Festival Organizing Committee will coordinate with Hue Monuments Conservation Centre to present the “Thi di ngon chi” (poetry is used to express aspiration/ideals) art show to the public.

Hue is leveraging its advantages in location, infrastructure, as well as special mechanisms and policies to step-by-step establish itself as a commercial hub of the Central region; in which, trade and services are identified as key drivers of growth in the coming period.

On the afternoon of February 10, Hue Spring Festival in the Year of the Horse 2026, themed “Identity and Integration”, officially opened at Ly Tu Trong Park along the bank of the Huong River on Le Loi Street, Thuan Hoa Ward. The event is organized by Hue City People's Committee.

Defining the fields and products of innovative startups is crucial for developing the innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystem and enhancing the scientific and technological position of Hue City. In an interview with Hue Today Weekly, Ms. Tran Thi Thuy Yen, Deputy Director of the Department of Science and Technology, emphasized that innovation and entrepreneurship in Hue is shifting strongly from a movement to depth, from ideas to products that create real value.

During his visit to Hue in early November 2025, General Secretary To Lam conveyed a message to the city’s Party Committee, authorities, and people: Hue must preserve its cultural identity and the distinctive character of Hue people amid a new phase of development. That reminder was not merely an expectation, but a guiding orientation for the entire term.
