On the morning of March 20, the Department of Agriculture and Environment, in collaboration with Hue Institute for Development Studies and the project “Hue - A plastic-reduced smart city in Central Vietnam” project (TVA project), organized the “National forum on promoting solutions to reduce plastic packaging through policies and pilot initiatives at the local level”.

Building a digital data infrastructure to preserve history on maps is the mission that Le Quang Tue, founder and manager of the Vietnam Map Archive project, and his team members have been quietly pursuing. To date, Tue’s team has digitized over 200 ancient maps of Vietnam, including ancient maps of Hue.

On the afternoon of March 12th, the Swiss Tourism for Sustainable Development Project in Vietnam officially signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with two leading tourism training institutions in central Vietnam: the School of Hospitality and Tourism - Hue University and Hue Tourism College. Attending the signing ceremony was Member of the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee and Standing Vice Chairman of the Hue City People's Committee, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Binh.

With the aim of spreading awareness about responsible tourism for a sustainable green Hue, the Department of Tourism has collaborated with the project “Hue - Plastic Smart City in Central Vietnam”/WWF-Vietnam to launch the “Check-in green Hue” contest - Visit Hue, receive gifts, and win a Canon R50!

Ask the people of Hue what flower they love most, and most will likely answer: the apricot blossom. To put it more formally, “hoang mai” - yellow apricot, without a doubt. Don’t believe it? Come to Hue and see for yourself! There’s a whole movement called “Yellow apricot blossom in front of the entrance”; a completed research project on “Conservation and development of Hue’s yellow apricot variety (Hue’s Hoang mai)”; a scientific conference on developing Hue’s Hoang mai into a key local product, aimed at successfully realizing the project to build Thua Thien Hue province (now Hue City) into Vietnam’s yellow apricot homeland. My friend, journalist Minh Tu, even published a book called “In front of the house stands a yellow apricot tree”, which sold out instantly, was reprinted, and translated into foreign languages to great acclaim.

On January 30, the Department of Agriculture and Environment, in coordination with the Agriculture and Environment Newspaper and the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF-Vietnam), organized the “Media Forum on Mobilizing Community and Stakeholders to the Work of Sustainable Biodiversity Conservation” under the framework of MiB-GBF Project.

In celebration of the 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam, the city has organized the groundbreaking and commencement of multiple key social housing projects.

On the afternoon of December 15, Hue City Department of Health, in coordination with Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids in Vietnam and Hue Help, held a conference to share a summary and evaluation of the results of the Child Drowning Prevention Project during the 2024-2025 period, while also calling for investment sponsorship for the next phase.

On December 2nd, Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee and Chairman of Hue City People’s Committee Nguyen Khac Toan held a meeting with representatives of Vietnam-Singapore Industrial Park Joint Venture Company (VSIP) to hear a report on several proposed investment projects in the city.

On November 19, Hue City Department of Health held a working session with a survey delegation from the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) to study and collect information for the development of the project of “Central Vietnam Healthcare Network Development”. This is considered an important initial step toward forming a large-scale cooperation project aimed at strengthening the healthcare system capacity in the Central region.
