One morning in late 2025, at Chieu Cafe on Dang Thai Than Street, behind the Hue Imperial Citadel, young musician Huynh Anh Khang had a conversation with us about music and his love for Hue – the land he feels he “owes a debt to.”

On the morning of February 28 (the 12th day of the first lunar month in the Year of the Horse), at the Thai Duong Cultural Village Communal House in Thuan An Ward, the 2026 traditional Fish Worshipping (Cau Ngu) Festival officially opened in a solemn and vibrant atmosphere, attracting a large number of People, fishermen, and visitors.

On the morning of February 11 (December 24th in the Year of the Snake), at the courtyard of the Thai Hoa Palace (Hue Imperial Citadel), the Hue Monuments Conservation Centre organized a reenactment of the Nguyen Dynasty’s Imperial New Year court ceremony. The event attracted large numbers of local residents and visitors, helping to recreate the traditional Lunar New Year atmosphere within the historic royal court setting.

On February 12th, the Steering Committee for Voluntary Blood Donation Mobilization of Phong Thai Ward, in coordination with the Hematology and Blood Transfusion Center - Hue Central Hospital, organized the 2026 Xuan Hong Blood Donation Festival under the theme “A Drop of Blood - A Gift of Life”.

On the afternoon of February 9, an art exhibition, themed “Celebrating Spring and the Zodiac of the Horse 2026”, was held at Song Huong Magazine (9 Pham Hong Thai). It was organized by Hue Fine Arts Association. This is an annual tradition having become a familiar cultural activity for Hue art community as Tet and Spring arrive.

On February 8, the People's Committee of Phong Thai Ward held a ceremony to announce the decision to establish and launch the Phong Thai Yellow Apricot Club.

According to Hue City Department of Culture and Sports, Huyen Tran Temple Festival for the Spring of Binh Ngo 2026, themed “Honoring the Ancestors - Sacred Imprints of Territorial Expansion”, will be held on the 8th and 9th days of the first lunar month of the Year of the Horse (corresponding to February 24-25, 2026) at Huyen Tran Cultural Center (151 Thien Thai Street, An Cuu Ward, Hue City).

While not as large-scale or bustling as many famous flower villages in the North and the South such as Sa Dec (Dong Thap), Cai Mon (Vinh Long), Nhat Tan, Tay Tuu (Hanoi), or Thai Phien (Lam Dong)…, the flower villages supplying Tet flowers in Hue remain vibrant and deeply imbued with local cultural identity.

The 4th Congress of Delegates of the Vietnam - Thailand Friendship Association of the city, for the 2025 - 2030 term, was held on December 26. Attending the Congress were Standing Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee Pham Duc Tien; Vice Chairman of the City People’s Committee Tran Huu Thuy Giang; along with representatives of departments, agencies, sectors, and a large number of association members.

This belief was shared by Mr. Ho Dac Thai Hoang, Chairman of the City Union of Science and Technology Associations, in a conversation with a Hue Today Weekly correspondent about scientific research and innovation, which is seen as the foundation for promoting the city’s science, technology, and socioeconomic development.

Having just completed a major renovation and reopened to welcome visitors, the magnificent and ancient Thai Hoa Palace inside Hue Imperial Citadel attracts thousands of tourists for sightseeing and appreciation.

The restoration work has not been completed, but Thai Hoa Palace has been highly appreciated by many people and tourists for keeping the ancient, majestic features imbued with Hue royal architecture.
