If the past 5 years were a period of building a ‘data reservoir’, the next 5 years will be a time of forming a ‘data power plant’, where data is not only stored, but also harnessed to create new values. This also requires management agencies to shift from a mindset of managing data to the one of exploiting and promoting its values, bringing heritage closer to the public while opening new opportunities for economic development based on heritage.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Xuan Te (Editor-in-Chief of the Van Lang University Journal of Science) believes that Hue is standing at a major institutional turning point, where heritage is no longer viewed simply as an object of preservation but as an endogenous resource and a source of soft power for development.

From July 16 to 21, a delegation from Hue City, led by Vice Chairman of Hue City People’s Committee Tran Huu Thuy Giang, attended the 48th session of the UNESCO World Heritage Committee (WHC48) in Busan, South Korea. On July 18th, the University of Sciences, Hue University, in collaboration with the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University Hanoi, and Hanoi National University of Education, will host the international scientific conference "Preserving and Promoting Cultural Heritage Values: International Experience and Vietnamese Practice".

On the afternoon of July 16th, in Khe Tre Commune, the Youth Union of the Party Agencies, in collaboration with the Youth Union and Student Association of the University of Sciences, Hue University and the Khe Tre Commune Youth Union, organized the Peak Day of the 2026 Summer Youth Volunteer Campaign, featuring a wide range of community welfare initiatives, livelihood support programs, and activities benefiting ethnic minority communities.

To advance the education development goals set out in Politburo Resolution No. 71-NQ/TW, National Assembly Resolution No. 248/2025/QH15, and Government Decree No. 271/2026/ND-CP on free textbooks for general education, the city’s leaders have approved a policy to provide free textbooks to all students across the city starting from the 2026-2027 academic year.

Dressed in the traditional ao-dai, Professor Bui Duy Tam spoke about his passion for the ao-dai, and how he has preserved and spread this traditional cultural value during his years living far from home.

On the morning of July 15th, Hue University of Medicine and Pharmacy held a ceremony to confer graduation certificates and award Level 1 Specialist Doctor degrees to 37 physicians from the 2024 - 2026 cohort, the tenth class trained under Project 585 - the Ministry of Health's pilot program ‘Young Volunteer Doctors for Underserved Areas’.

Hue Today No. 474 features a range of notable stories, including the city’s regular citizen reception program, the training of doctors for mountainous areas, ongoing DNA sampling to identify fallen soldiers, and a talk show by a professor with students on the enduring love for the ao-dai.
