Many valuable archival materials of the Nguyen Dynasty, as well as Hue’s historic structures and rituals, remain scattered across museums, archival centers, and private collections abroad. Through international cooperation and connections with researchers and cultural organizations, Hue is working to bring these archival resources home to support the restoration, conservation, and reconstruction of its heritage.

Following the Ban Soc Ceremony of the Nguyen Dynasty, held on the very first day of 2026, Hue officially kicked off its year-long Hue Festival celebrations.

On the afternoon of July 10, Hue Monuments Conservation Center, in collaboration with Hue Museum of Royal Antiquities, Ho Chi Minh Antique Association, and private collectors, opened an exhibition titled “Golden Heritage - A Convergence of Excellence” at Long An Palace - Hue Museum of Royal Antiquities.

Having withstood countless historical upheavals, tens of thousands of precious Nguyen Dynasty Woodblocks were inscribed on UNESCO’s Memory of the World Register in 2009, becoming Viet Nam’s first World Documentary Heritage. They are currently preserved under strict archival conditions at the National Archives Center No. IV in Da Lat (now located in Cam Ly Ward, Da Lat City, Lam Dong Province).

For over twenty years, artist Tran Huu Nhat has quietly traveled through rivers, temples, the citadel in Hue in his journey of recreating sketches of Than Kinh Nhi Thap Canh _ the twenty beautiful landscapes of Hue mentioned in historical records of the Nguyen Dynasty.

On the morning of June 4th, at Thai Hoa Palace in Hue Imperial Citadel, the Nguyen Dynasty Throne, a National Treasure, was returned to public display after the completion of restoration work.

More than 3 years after the passing of folk artisan Cong Ton Nu Tri Hue, the one who kept the secret techniques of making royal armrest pillows of the Nguyen Dynasty, also known as the “trai dua” (armrest pillow-blocks), an exhibition dedicated to her titled “Wholeheartedly, with devotion” has been organized by young people.

34 ancient books, many of which are rare and one-of-a-kind artifacts, are currently on display at the exhibition “Tales from ancient pages” at the Co Mat Vien - Tam Toa historical site. Through pages tinted by the passage of time, a portion of the history, culture, and daily life of the Nguyen Dynasty comes vividly to life.

On the afternoon of April 24, at the Nguyen Dynasty’s Privy Council (Co Mat Vien - Tam Toa), Hue Monuments Conservation Center held an online signing ceremony for a scientific and cultural cooperation agreement with the Quai Branly - Jacques Chirac Museum (France), opening an additional channel to access international archival resources for heritage conservation.

On the afternoon of April 22, at Tang Tho Pavilion heritage site (No. 344 Dinh Tien Hoang Street, Phu Xuan Ward), Hue Monuments Conservation Center officially opened the exhibition titled “The Nguyen Dynasty’s Nine Urns: Documentary Heritage Through Images and Archival Materials - A Digital Experiential Approach to Heritage Education”.
