On the first day of the Lunar New Year of the Snake, heritage sites in Hue opened their doors for free, welcoming thousands of visitors to experience the festive atmosphere of the traditional Tet holiday.

Despite the cold and rainy weather, many people in Hue continued the tradition of visiting pagodas on the first day of the Lunar New Year to worship Buddha and pray for a peaceful and prosperous year.

By blending modern technology with long-standing cultural values, Hue’s heritage is embarking on a new, vibrant journey.

Ancient chrysanthemums, a symbol frequently found in heritage structures, clothing, and jewelry of the Nguyen Dynasty, have left their traces but seem to have disappeared from Hue. Meanwhile, the appreciation for these flowers continues as a quiet passion among some "scholars of Ha Thanh".

Thanks to technology, many delicious dishes from Hue have transcended the borders of their homeland. The unique flavors of the ancient capital are now finding their way to the East and the West, driven by the rise of e-commerce and the entrepreneurial spirit.

It may seem easy to dream of a day when Gia Hoi “revives,” not only preserving its essence and cultural heritage values, but also seizing the opportunity for this ancient quarter to develop. The preservation of heritage values in this ancient quarter located east of the Hue Citadel, however, is facing many challenges and conflicts.

Hue City these days is becoming more bustling with the atmosphere of the upcoming Tet holiday (the Lunar New Year of the Snake). Flowers and ornamental plants have been brought to decorate the city's parks. The entire city is vibrant with flowers, and people are out taking “check-in” photos.

It is the theme of the Year of the Snake - 2025 Spring Press Fair, jointly organized by Journalists Association and Department of Culture and Sports on January 23rd at Ho Chi Minh Museum in Hue City.
