Deputy Prime Minister Le Thanh Long recently signed a decision approving the plan to implement the healthcare network development strategy for the 2021- 2030 period, prioritizing the development of six hospitals to meet international standards, including Hue Central Hospital (HCH). With a 130-year tradition, Hue Central Hospital is seizing numerous development opportunities. Hue Today Weekly had an interview with Prof. Dr. Pham Nhu Hiep, Director of HCH, who shared the following insights:

On the morning of January 12, the Standing Committee of the City Youth Union – the Secretariat of the City Committee of the Vietnam Youth Union, in collaboration with Hue Central Hospital, Hue University, Red Cross Society, and the Executive Board of Vietnam Buddhist Sangha in the city, organized the 17th “Red Sunday” voluntary blood donation festival in 2025.

On the afternoon of January 6, Hue Central Hospital (HCH) reported that they had performed a rigid esophagoscopy to remove a sharp-pointed piece of pig bone for a 26 year-old man. This complicated emergency case required the quick, precise, and skillful intervention of the medical team.

On the afternoon of December 29, at the Oncology Center (Hue Central Hospital), volunteers from the “One Painting - Many Hopes” project and Thua Thien Hue Provincial Women Entrepreneurs Association organized a New Year's celebration for patients there.

The heart of a 24-year-old man traveled over 600 kilometers from Hanoi to Hue, bringing life to a peer suffering from severe heart failure. This is the 14th heart transplant performed at Hue Central Hospital and the 13th heart transplant across Vietnam by the hospital.

On the evening of November 5th, Hue Central Hospital (HCH) held an inauguration ceremony for the new “Space for Kids 2” play area on the fourth floor of its Pediatric Center.

On October 28, Hue Central Hospital inaugurated the 19th Vietnam-Australia Hand Surgery Training Course for surgeons, surgical residents, postgraduate students, and rehabilitation doctors and technicians from across the country.

In the evening of September 27, Hue Central Hospital announced that a pediatric patient suffering from pancreatitis leading to abdominal hemorrhage has been discharged after more than a month of intensive treatment by the medical staff.

For hundreds of patients being treated at Hue Central Hospital, the afternoon of June 10 was a more bustling summer afternoon than usual as they enjoyed a unique cultural feature of the land of cherry blossoms from the Eisa Urakaji Drum Dance Art Troupe, which was participating in Hue Festival 2024.

On the afternoon of June 6, with the authorization of the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, directors of Hue Central Hospital (HCH) presented Commendation Certificates to 2 doctors: Kenneth D. Montgomery, President and Founder of Orthonations (USA), and Matthew Teo S Mendez-Zfass, Co-founder of Orthonations.
