HNN.VN - On July 29th, the Vietnam Center for the Development of Maternal and Child Health, in coordination with Hue Central Hospital, held the opening ceremony for the first-level postgraduate neonatal medicine training course based on standards from the United Kingdom. This marks an important step forward in improving the quality of neonatal care in Vietnam, particularly in underserved regions.

The training program is comprehensively designed, combining theory and practice. It includes specialized lectures, bedside clinical instruction, case discussions, and individual assessments. Importantly, the content is adapted to the practical conditions in Vietnam, allowing trainees to effectively apply the knowledge to their daily work.
Dr. Sunita Seal, Course Director, emphasized: “This course provides not just knowledge but also the empowerment to apply it in saving newborn lives,”. The collaboration between Vietnam Center for the Development of Maternal and Child Health, Hue Central Hospital, and the Vietnam Dream Maker Foundation has laid a strong foundation for the program’s practical and sustainable effectiveness.
According to Prof. Dr. Pham Như Hiep, Director of Hue Central Hospital, the program is funded by the Dream Maker Foundation – a strategic partner of the Center for the Development of Maternal and Child Health for many years. In addition to financial support, the Foundation also helps connect key stakeholders, including hospitals, NGOs, and international experts, to develop scalable healthcare models.
This is the eighth such training course held in Vietnam since 2015, following the success of previous sessions at major hospitals including the National Children's Hospital, Hanoi Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital, Saint Paul Hospital, National Hospital of Obstetrics and Gynecology, and Da Nang Hospital for Women and Children.
On this occasion, the Vietnam Dream Maker Foundation contributed VND 2,3 billion to fund the training program in 2025.
