Putting into operation a modern vitreoretinal surgery system

HNN.VN - On July 26, the Eye Center of Hue Central Hospital officially put into operation the CONSTELLATION® Vision System – Alcon, one of the most advanced ophthalmic surgical devices in the world today. This marks an important milestone in the hospital’s strategy to develop high-tech medical techniques, contributing practical benefits to patients in the Central and Central Highlands regions of Vietnam.

CONSTELLATION® System Enables Vitreoretinal Surgeries with Exceptional Precision

The CONSTELLATION® Vision System – Alcon integrates cutting-edge technologies such as a dual cutter with speeds of up to 10,000 cuts per second, an automatic intraocular pressure control mechanism, a high-power cold light illumination system, an endolaser photocoagulation module, and a built-in Phaco machine. Therefore, this system allows vitreoretinal surgeries to be performed with exceptional precision, ensuring maximum safety and shortening recovery time for patients.

According to specialists at the Eye Center, “The CONSTELLATION® system not only optimizes the effectiveness of complex surgeries such as retinal detachment, vitreous hemorrhage, macular holes, epiretinal membranes, and diabetic retinopathy, but also effectively handles cases involving intraocular foreign bodies or those requiring combined vitrectomy with phacoemulsification, gas or silicone oil tamponade.”

As the leading ophthalmology center in the Central and Central Highlands regions, the Eye Center of Hue Central Hospital treats over 500 vitreoretinal cases annually. The investment in the CONSTELLATION® Vision System not only enhances the hospital’s technical capacity but also helps reduce treatment time, costs, and travel burdens for patients in the region.
