Pho Loi River clean and green
HNN.VN - In the article “Pho Loi River through the Nguyen Dynasty’s Woodblock”, the author Thom Quang cited a historical information: “In Dai Nam thuc luc woodblock No. 154, the carved page 2 recorded that in the year At Mui of Lunar Calendar (1835), Emperor Minh Mang issued an edict for Thua Thien Hue Province to dig Pho Loi River”. Pho Loi River stretches along the route from Hue, starting from the point where it meets the Huong River and then flowing out to Thuan An seaport.
Although this river identifies itself with the lives of Hue locals, for a time, many sections of Pho Loi River became hot spots for waste and environmental pollution. Fortunately, after being supported by the government and local community to carry out dredging project, clearing the flow, and building embankments to prevent erosion, Pho Loi River has returned to its former appearance, when it was a pride of our ancestors as it was chosen to be engraved on Nhan Dinh (in Cuu Dinh - Nine Dynastic Urns).
Taking the photos of green, clean, bright, and delightful on the riverbanks of Pho Loi, photographer Bao Chau expressed: Although I have been familiar with this river, I’m still amazed by Pho Loi’s appearance today. The embankments are sturdy, with a lot of stone benches arranged along both sides, along with spacious, cleaner, and brighter paths. Especially, the elderly people living around Duong No village area said that since the river has become cleaner, they’ve really enjoy visiting the river, contemplating its beauty, and experiencing various activities held on the river, which had been impossible for a long time.
Hue Today Weekly would like to introduce the beauty of Pho Loi River to readers near and far. We hope this will be a light suggestion for tourists to Hue, offering them a small plan of a trip “along Pho Loi River”, where they can enjoy the watery scene, visit Thuan An beach, and enjoy local cuisine, etc.
