Green Huong River

HNN.VN - A friend of mine just came from the Southeastern region to visit Hue. After a day visiting various destinations, from the Imperial Citadel to the tombs of Emperors Gia Long and Minh Mang, then heading to the Van Thanh - Vo Thanh temples and Thien Mu Pagoda, my friend warmly remarked: “In Hue, wherever you go, you can see the Huong River. Now I understand why people here are so gentle and friendly. In this scene, by this river, it’s hard even to get upset!”.

The Huong River, originating from Truong Son mountain range, nourishes countless villages and towns before finally reaching the sea. As the writer Le Mau Phu expressed in his article titled ‘The Huong River - A Spiritual River’, “Wherever the Huong River flows, villages and their people live in harmony. The river has opened a sacred source for both the life and the spirit of locals. It also shares in the joys and sorrows of Hue people, embracing them like a mother cradling her child, etc”.

On the sweltering summer days, Hue Today Weekly warmly invites readers near and far to visit a refreshingly cool Hue, with its green riverbanks and crystal-clear waters, captured through the lens of photographer Hoang Hai, along with this message: Beneath the gentle glow of the afternoon sun and the cool breeze from the Huong River, the grassy banks suddenly transform into a perfect space for relaxation. In this tender meeting of earth and sky, we realize that happiness is sometimes as simple as sitting together, quietly listening to each other, and feeling time peacefully “flows”.
