Over 5 billion VND to help people with disabilities in Thua Thien Hue
HNN.VN - On August 14, the Department of Labour - Invalids and Social Affairs coordinated with the Action for the Community Development Centre to hold a closing conference of the project “Supporting disabled people for the 2015-2018 period in Thua Thien Hue Province”
With the total budget of over 5.1 billion VND, the project “Supporting disabled people for the 2015-2018 period in Thua Thien Hue Province” has strengthened capacity on policies support and legal assistance for people with disabilities. Furthermore, it has also improved capacity for state agencies in proposing plans approaching to works and traffic routes for disabled people.
The training, consulting classes and conferences, etc., have helped the people with disabilities to enlarge their knowledge and skills to overcome the difficulties and fall in line with community. Besides, the work of deploying policy assistance activities for people with disabilities such as: establishing the Disabled People's Association, approaching policies, supervising and evaluating, etc., has achieved remarkable results and fulfilled their missions.
Through the activities which support disabled people, the community awareness on disability issues such as: disability law, the U.N convention on the rights of people with disabilities, social assistance activities for people with disabilities and relevant policies has improved markedly, etc.
