Cruise members visit children with disabilities in Hue city

The group of 19 crew members of Sky Sea Golden Era Cruise chose none of them. They made an unusual decision when they popped in Chan May port, located in the outskirt of Hue city. They already got a plan while they were on the ocean.

In the middle of the East Sea, they phoned the officials in Chan May port telling that they wanted to visit a special place to donate something to the kids. Their request were accepted; things were then quickly arranged, with the collaboration between the youth unions of Chan May Company and Thua Thien Hue Union of Friendship Organizations (HueFO) – the focal point for facilitating people’s aid activities.

As things planned mutually, the group, including young people from the UK, Philippines, Malaysia and China accompanied by the local youth, visited the Centre for Protection of Children with Disabilities at Long Tho pagoda, where about 80 children with many types of disable conditions are taken care and rehabilitated.

Not only bringing the kids with nice foods, gifts and toys, the visiting group also gave the vulnerable kids a good time that they rarely have with paper making, fun games and music. Before leaving, the crew members also expressed their sentiment by donating VND 20 million, which they fundraised amongst themselves in advance, to the centre to purchase necessary stuffs for the children. The crew members then leave the center returning to the cruise to continue their voyage, but the love they gave would stay, for long.

Once being the Imperial Capital under the Nguyen Dynasty, Hue has undergone many historical phases, and today the city is regarded as one of Vietnam’s few cities where multiple architectural traditions coexist. It brings together folk, royal, colonial, and modern styles, developing in a way that balances the architecture, landscape, and culture, forming a distinctive urban identity.

Green shoots after the flood

People say that after days submerged in floodwater, when the water recedes, the ground is left with a dull, gloomy gray. Yet it is within that muted palette that the resilient life force of nature begins to sprout - taking root, greening again, and stirring with new vitality through the caring hands of the city’s green-park workers.
