This is the first time the event was held in Hue and the fourth time it took place in various provinces and cities across the country.
More than 200 people took part in the event, including over 140 people with disabilities from the city. The event aimed to raise community awareness about people with disabilities and disability-related issues, enhance opportunities and improve the position of people with disabilities, contribute to removing barriers, and promoting their participation in sports and other social activities.
At the event, participants had the opportunity to challenge themselves with distances ranging from 500 meters to 1,500 meters, suitable for the majority of people with disabilities. Each participant could choose a distance that matched their health and physical ability. The organizing committee hoped that every participant would become a source of inspiration, helping to spark a movement of sports and fitness within the community, especially among people with disabilities.
According to Mr. Dinh Man, Chairman of the City Association for the Protection of the Disabled and Orphans, the event created an inspiring sports space filled with humanistic values, contributing to the journey toward an equal society where no one is left behind.
The activity took place within the framework of the project “Support to Improve the Quality of Life of People with Disabilities in Provinces Heavily Affected by Agent Orange”, implemented in Quang Tri, Hue City, and Quang Nam. The project is overseen by the Ministry of National Defense, with the National Action Center for Toxic Chemicals and Environmental Treatment (NACCET) as the project owner. The Center for Creative Initiatives in Health and Population (CCIHP) manages the project, which is funded by the U.S. Government. The Action to Community Development Center (ACDC) is one of the partners carrying out project activities.
