In the province these days, there has been moderate, heavy to very heavy rain. To ensure the safety of dams and downstream areas, Binh Dien and Huong Dien hydropower reservoirs have regulated water flow to control floods.

Many low-lying areas in Quang Dien district were recorded being flooded.

By the afternoon of December 6, in Xuan Tuy village (Quang Phu commune, Quang Dien district), the roads in the village were soaked in floodwater. The level of floodwater was from 0.2-0.6m. Flooding made it difficult for people to travel. Many people had to turn to boats to travel more conveniently.

To ensure safety as well as to be proactive in traveling, people had to bring motorbikes to high placesfor sheltering.

“The heavy rain has caused many roads in the village to be flooded for several days. Being a low-lying area of Quang Phu commune, my village is flooded almost every year. In the flood season, local people bring their boats out to move around more easily,” said a resident in Xuan Tuy village.

Floodwater "poured" into locals’ gardens, causing vegetables to be flooded and putting them at risk of damage. On Bo River, many cage-farming households continued to move, reinforce and anchor the cages to avoid damage caused by rising floodwater.

The provincial Hydro-meteorological station warned that the rain in the province is likely to last until December 9th due to the additional cold air.
