Over the past 6 years, backed by the support of Party committees, local authorities and the broader community, the City Red Cross Society has mobilized and delivered over 35,000 presents; built 40 “Red Cross houses” and “Love Home Pieces” houses; provided free medical examinations and medicines; and rolled out initiatives such as “Nutrition Kitchens” and the “Living Blood Bank”… With a total value exceeding VND 22 billion, these activities have benefited over 37,000 people, helping ease hardships while promoting deep-rooted humanitarian values across the community.
In line with plans set by the Central Committee of the Red Cross and Hue City Red Cross Society, the 2026 Humanitarian Month will be held throughout May to mobilize social resources to provide practical support for the poor and vulnerable groups.
The City Red Cross Society aims to support over 5,000 disadvantaged people across the area; mobilize at least VND 3-5 billion in resources to carry out humanitarian activities; break ground on a minimum of 5 humanitarian projects (including Red Cross houses and community works), each valued at VND 70 million or more. Furthermore, they also strive to collect around 2,000 units of blood from voluntary donors.
Speaking at the ceremony, Vice Chairman of the City People’s Committee Nguyen Van Manh commended the city Red Cross Society. He called on Party committees, authorities, and businesses at all levels to continue to join hands, ensuring humanitarian activities remain transparent and effective while spreading the values of “Hue - Compassion and Responsibility”.
At the launch ceremony, 20 gift packages, each worth VND 700,000, were presented to 20 poor and especially disadvantaged households in An Cuu Ward. Additionally, VND 50 million in livelihood support was provided to 10 disadvantaged households in the ward.
On this occasion, the City Red Cross Society received VND 120 million in support for the “Love Home Pieces” program from ME-DI-PHA-CO Company, the Social Charity Board of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha in Hue, VietinBank, and BIDV Hue branches. It also secured funding from Hai Phong Red Cross Society to build 3 Red Cross houses, each worth VND 70 million, in Huong Thuy, Phong Quang, and Thuan An wards. The Vietnam Breast Cancer Network donated 50 wigs to the University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Hue University for cancer patients. In addition, many delegates registered to donate tissues and organs at the launch ceremony.
