The initiative was held to facilitate the early detection of diseases, improve the effectiveness of primary healthcare, and support the development of electronic health records for residents.

Speaking at the launch ceremony, Mr. Hoang Van Suu, Vice Chairman of Phong Quang Ward People’s Committee, affirmed that good health is a fundamental pillar of socio-economic development, contributing to improving the public's quality of life. Therefore, organizing periodic health check-ups, free medical examinations and screenings, and respiratory disease screening not only reflects the local authorities’ commitment to protecting and improving public health but also enables the early detection of non-communicable diseases such as hypertension, diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, and cancer, as well as tuberculosis and other chronic respiratory diseases. Early diagnosis allows for timely treatment, reduces healthcare costs, and helps prevent complications.

According to the ward’s leadership, Phong Quang is home to a large number of residents who make their living from fishing, aquaculture, and seafood harvesting. Their frequent exposure to harsh working conditions puts them at a higher risk of respiratory and other non-communicable diseases.

Therefore, bringing health examination and screening services directly to the community will make it easier for residents to access quality healthcare while reducing travel time and costs. The program will also contribute to building a comprehensive health database and completing electronic health records to support long-term health management in line with the healthcare sector’s digital transformation orientation.

Right after the launch ceremony, medical staff from Hue Lung Hospital and Phong Quang Ward Health Station began conducting health check-ups, providing medical consultations, and screening residents for respiratory diseases. Beyond helping to raise public awareness of the importance of periodic health check-ups and early disease detection, the program was also held to support the broader goal of improving public health, building a healthier community, and promoting sustainable development across the city.
