Open the door to a brighter future

From the impoverished rural area of A Luoi 3, Ms. Nguyen Thanh Lanh has now become a chef at Voco Ma Belle Danang Hotel with a monthly salary of 9 million VND. Seeing the young woman confidently talking about her current job, few would think that just a few years ago, Lanh was struggling with life. She shared that, from a challenging family background, she wished for a stable job to support her family. After knowing that REACH Hue Center offered free vocational training for disadvantaged youth, she decided to enroll.

After completing the culinary training course at REACH in 2022, Thanh Lanh was introduced to a job by the center. Lanh shared: “During my time at REACH, I received dedicated guidance from the teachers, who equipped me with both professional skills and soft skills. After finishing the course, REACH helped me find a job, thanks to that, I now have suitable work to stabilize my life”.

Similarly, Mr. Dang Cong Tien (Phong Dien Ward) thought it would be difficult for him to have the opportunity to receive formal vocational training. When he learned about REACH’s free vocational training program, he enrolled in a graphic design course. At REACH, he was not only acquired basic knowledge of design software but also participated in many extracurricular activities to develop life skills. Upon completing the course, the center introduced him to a job at Cubicasa Company with a starting salary of 8 million VND per month. “This is the stable beginning I had always dreamed of,” said Mr. Tien.

The support for disadvantaged youth

REACH (Research, Education, Community, and Health) is a Vietnamese non-profit organization established under the management of Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations (VUSTA), operating in the field of vocational training and job placement for underprivileged youth. In Hue, with the support of the community and businesses, for years, REACH Hue has become a solid support for hundreds of disadvantaged young people on their journey to build a career.

REACH’s training programs focus on occupations with high demand, such as 2D graphic design, spa - nail - therapeutic hair washing, restaurant and beverage services, as well as Asian-European cuisine and bakery, and hospitable services (receptionist - housekeeping).

In 2023-2024, REACH Hue collaborated with Hue City Center for Vocational and Continuing Education (now the Regional Center for Vocational and Continuing Education No. 1) to offer 24 basic-level training classes, with 472 students enrolled, of whom 346 have graduated. In 2025, the Center aims to train around 300 students, with at least 250 expected to graduate.

Students are trained in a professional, practice-oriented environment with modern facilities and a team of experienced, dedicated instructors. In addition to acquiring professional skills, students participate in extracurricular activities, receive career guidance, and develop soft skills. Furthermore, they are connected with job opportunities immediately after graduation.

Mr. Tran Dung, Director of REACH Hue stated that their mission is to provide opportunities for vocational training and employment to less fortunate youth. The Center’s training programs are both aligned with market demand and tailored to the learners’ abilities. The team of teachers and staff continuously innovates in recruitment methods, bringing information directly to disadvantaged areas and helping many young people discover the opportunity to access free vocational training for the very first time.

Not only providing vocational training, REACH Hue also proactively connects with businesses and facilitates job placement for students immediately after graduation. The employment rate of graduates securing stable jobs at REACH exceeds 90%. They are currently working at major hotels and resorts such as Vinpearl, Silkpath, Hương Giang, Mikazuki Danang; reputable spas like Sosono, Relax, Queen; as well as design and e-commerce companies including Pixelz, Rubersoul Vietnam, Highland Coffee, and Starbucks, etc.

The success of REACH Hue owes much to its network of over 370 partner businesses. These companies not only host students for internships but also participate in direct recruitment, provide career guidance, and help students understand real-world requirements while developing professional conduct and soft skills. At the same time, REACH Hue Alumni Club has become an “extended arm” in the effort of recruitment and inspiration.

By providing vocational training aligned with market demand and maintaining close connections with businesses, REACH Hue has created job opportunities for many underprivileged youth. The timely support from REACH helps students realize their career aspirations, empowering them to confidently improve their lives and achieve stability.
