Equipping students with first aid and emergency response skills

HNN.VN - On the morning of September 14, at the Youth Center (57 Lam Hoang Street, Hue City), the city's Red Cross Society, in coordination with the Department of Education and Training, organized a contest on “First aid skills, and communication on voluntary blood donation, tissue donation, organ donation and climate change”. This event was held to celebrate the 25th anniversary of World First Aid Day (September 13, 2000 - September 13, 2025).

The contest brought together 100 students from 10 high schools in the city, including Quoc Hoc, Bui Thi Xuan, Nguyen Sinh Cung, Vinh Xuan, Huong Tra, Dang Huy Tru, Hoa Chau, Phu Bai, Nguyen Hue, and Thua Luu.

The contest consisted of two main parts. In the “First Aid” section, the teams competed in 10 emergency response skills, such as moving a victim, stopping bleeding, performing artificial respiration, bandaging wounds, and handling fractures, electric shocks, burns, and drowning, etc. The contestants were tested through role-playing scenarios, where some contestants acted as casualties and others had to treat the “victims” on the spot.

The “Learning about blood donation, tissue donation, organ donation and climate change” section took place enthusiastically in the form of a “Ring the Golden Bell” contest, quickly answering multiple choice questions, and testing knowledge on public health and current environmental issues.

The contest contributes to raising awareness, training first aid skills among students, while also spreading a humane message about blood donation, tissue donation, organ donation and the responsibility in responding to climate change. It also served as a valuable platform for students to practice their skills, foster a compassionate lifestyle, be proactive in the face of risks, and promote the pioneering, volunteer spirit of youth to build a safe and connected community.
