In his opening remarks, Dr. Thai Van Tuan, Specialist Level II, Director of Hue City Center for Disease Control (Hue CDC), noted that Hue is one of six centrally-governed municipalities, with a relatively complete healthcare system organized synchronously from grassroots to specialized levels. This system basically meets the needs for healthcare and protection of the People’s health, as well as requirements for disease prevention and control in the new context.

Regarding HIV/AIDS and tuberculosis prevention and control, Hue City has established a tight organizational model, with CDC Hue serving as the focal point for HIV/AIDS prevention and control, and the Lung Hospital playing a core role in tuberculosis prevention and control.

However, according to Dr. Thai Van Tuan, in the face of requirements to reform the organization of the health system, expand services, effectively control infectious diseases, and improve the quality of healthcare, the training, management, and efficient utilization of healthcare human resources are posing many challenges.

The mission aims to enhance the effectiveness and performance of the national health system in responding to HIV, tuberculosis, and other public health threats through strengthening evidence-based human resource management.

Concluding the workshop, the leader of Hue CDC affirmed the commitment to collaborating closely with the Lung Hospital, the Thuan Hoa and Huong Thuy Health Centers, and other relevant units to implement the mission on schedule and in accordance with regulations, contributing to improving human resource management capacity and the effectiveness of HIV/AIDS and tuberculosis prevention and control in the city.
