An Cu Dong is a fishing village with long tradition in Lang Co (Village of the Storks). The people here bath their life in waters around the year. The boat racing festival, dating back to over 300 years, has been anchored in the life of the fishermen and become a cultural beauty of the village by the coast.

Like every year, there are five racing teams in the village. Each team is a body of 18 athletes who are the youngest and strongest men of the village. The winner has to conquer and be the fastest in a 6km-long racing track, stretching from Lap An lagoon to Lang Co estuary.

The festival amplifies the delightful atmosphere of the new year, and at the same time helps foster the solidarity spirit among the people. This annual celebration not only functions as a spiritual activity of local fishermen, but also diversifies the forms of traditional festivals to enchant more tourists to this prime destination with its recognized world-bays status.
