Speaking at the opening ceremony, Chairman of the Hue Union of Science and Technology Associations Ho Dac Thai Hoang affirmed that as Hue has become a centrally-governed municipality, it is crucial to continue updating the city’s planning, translating development orientations into concrete action, and leveraging the role of the intellectual community.
Under the development orientations, Hue is seeking a growth model built on its heritage, culture, and tourism, while developing new drivers such as science - technology, innovation, digital transformation, specialized healthcare, education - training, and maritime economy.
The presentations at the seminar focused on practical issues relevant to the city’s development orientations. Experts highlighted the need to develop a healthcare system for the elderly, capitalizing on Hue’s strengths in specialized healthcare; shifting from a flood-control mindset to risk management and reorganizing water spaces to enhance the urban area’s resilience.
In tourism, participants offered suggestions on diversifying tourism products and developing Halal services, while expanding access to international visitor markets to increase value added and strengthen the destination’s competitiveness.
Some of the discussions made at the seminar also focused on the heritage economy, cultural industries, the marine and lagoon economy, logistics, private-sector development, high-quality human resources, and regional connectivity.
The seminar provided an opportunity for the Hue Union of Science and Technology Associations to gather scientific and practical perspectives, along with policy recommendations, thereby contributing to refining the city’s socio-economic development orientations for the new period.
