Inspecting erosion situation, directing restoration efforts following Typhoon No. 10

Due to the impact of the typhoon, heavy rain combined with upstream flooding caused the river water levels to rise, leading to serious erosion along many riverbank sections. Along the Bo River, the section passing through Thanh Luong 4 residential group suffered about 300 meters of erosion; the section through An Thuan Hamlet (Kim Tra Ward) eroded nearly 700 meters; the section through Niem Pho and Pho Nam A hamlets suffered about 500 meters of erosion; the section through Phuoc Yen Hamlet (Quang Dien District) suffered about 300 meters of erosion; the section through Thanh Phuoc residential group (Hoa Chau Ward) eroded 300 meters, and the section through Phong Thai Ward eroded 300 meters. Along the O Lau River, the erosion situation is also serious, with riverbank sections passing through Phong Dien Town suffered about 700 meters of erosion, and the section through Phong Dinh Commune eroded more than 1,000 meters.

During the on-site inspection, the city's leaders acknowledged the efforts of the local authorities and residents in proactively responding, and implementing temporary measures to limit damage.

Mr. Nguyen Van Phuong requested localities to quickly reinforce and handle vulnerable areas immediately, ensuring the safety of residents during the rainy and stormy season. At the same time, he assigned functional departments to research and propose long-term solutions to fundamentally address the erosion, combining riverbank protection measures with landscape elements, both preventing natural disasters and serving socio-economic development, improving the living environment.

The city's leaders noted the need to update the eroded areas in the project for building the embankment system and the riverside traffic route, ensuring the synchronization and sustainability. The investment must aim for a “two-in-one” goal: both protecting residents from natural disasters and creating momentum for expanding urban space in a harmonious and friendly direction.
