City leaders and residents join forces to clean up Hue after the floods

HNN.VN - On the morning of November 9, communes and wards across Hue City simultaneously launched environmental cleanup campaigns in connection with the “Green Sunday” movement, aiming to restore urban landscapes and prevent disease outbreaks following prolonged flooding. City leaders visited several locations to inspect, encourage, and present gifts to participating teams.

In Phong Dinh Ward, Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee and Chairman of Hue City People’s Committee Phan Thien Dinh encouraged nearly 100 participants, including local officials and volunteers, who were cleaning up trash, removing mud, and trimming trees along the main road leading to the ancient Phuoc Tich Village. He praised the proactive “clean as the water recedes” spirit shown by both the government and residents, which helped restore the cleanliness of village streets after the floods.

In Phong Thai Ward, after motivating cleanup teams along Provincial Road 11B, one of the most heavily flooded areas, Chairman Dinh inspected a local project to reinforce embankments combined with traffic upgrades. He also visited and extended his best wishes to elderly residents and encouraged small traders to resume business after the floods

Participated in collecting trash with a large group of officials, militia, youth union members, and local residents at alley 104 Pham Thi Lien Street in Kim Long Ward, Standing Vice Chairman Nguyen Thanh Binh commended their dedication and community spirit, urging the ward authorities and related agencies to continue mobilizing manpower and equipment to expand cleanup activities to all streets and residential areas. Leftover trash and sludge should be removed promptly to prevent pollution and protect public health.

At the wards of Phu Xuan, My Thuong, and Vy Da, Vice Chairman of the People’s Committee Nguyen Chi Tai recognized and highly appreciated the involvement of agencies, organizations, armed forces, and citizens in responding to the “Green Sunday” movement after the severe floods.

In Huong An Ward, large amounts of trash and mud accumulated around Duc Buu Market Bridge on Nguyen Van Linh Street and intersections including Mai Luong - Nguyen Anh Thu and Mai Luong - Phan Dinh Thong, with an estimated total volume of about 20 cubic meters.

Joining the cleanup effort, Vice Chairman Hoang Hai Minh praised the efficiency and commitment of participating teams. He called on local authorities and residents to maintain the “Green Sunday” and community spirit, avoid the “some work while others watch” attitude and work together to help restore Hue’s bright, green, clean, and beautiful appearance after the disaster.

Visiting several areas including Hoa Tay Hamlet, Phuong 2 Hamlet (former Vinh Ha Commune), and Phu Da Market area in Phu Vang Commune, Vice Chairman Phan Quy Phuong praised the enthusiasm of local residents, and instructed commune leaders to continue mobilizing all officials, residents to regularly clean the environment, remove floating vegetation, and clear waterways to prevent blockages and pollution.

On this occasion, Director of Hue City Police Department, Major General Nguyen Thanh Tuan, along with local Party and People’s Committee leaders, visited and gave gifts to volunteers participating in the citywide cleanup.

Throughout the day (November 9th), all communes and wards across Hue launched “Green Sunday” cleanup campaigns to help life return to normal and keep the city clean and beautiful. Members of the City People’s Committee joined local authorities and residents on-site to inspect, encourage, and participate in the cleanup efforts.
