| Mr. Duong Phuoc Thu, a journalist and a researcher, the lead editor of “A Chronicle of Hue Journalism History (1913 - 2020)” gave a brief introduction of the book at the launch event |
The launch event of the book - research work “A Chronicle of Hue Journalism History (1913 - 2020)” holds immense historical, cultural, and political significance on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the first issue of Thanh Nien Newspaper, founded by Leader Nguyen Ai Quoc; the 95th anniversary of the Con Duong Dau Tranh newspaper's establishment (June 1930 - June 2025), the first newspaper of Thua Thien Hue Provincial Party Committee - now Hue City; and the 100th anniversary of Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day.
The book primarily focuses on providing an overview of the history of each newspaper, compiled in a chronological style. It briefly introduces each publication released in Hue, from the “ancestral newspaper” first published in December 1913 to those that appeared in 2020, which is the milestone for the compilation of this book.
The editorial board dedicated considerable time to meticulously and scientifically building this research work, working carefully with cross-referenced data, from the founding date to the suspension of each newspaper, the number of issues published, and their circulation. It specifically names the Directors, Editors-in-Chiefs, Managers, Editorial Secretaries, and prominent journalists who contributed to the newspaper's strength. This research work includes numerous first issues of newspapers that were published nearly a century ago, with their content clearly printed alongside.

Furthermore, the book builds upon the work of many previous journalism researchers. Notably, it involved extensive collection, research, and exploitation of original documents preserved for many years at various units, archive centers, national museums, and from the collections of numerous newspaper collectors across the country, etc., to complete this work.
Sharing his thoughts on “A Chronicle of Hue Journalism History (1913 - 2020)”, Mr. Nguyen Khoa Diem, a poet and a journalist, highly appreciated the editorial board for their diligent search through large libraries and archive centers, where many documents have deteriorated and faded from the memories of those directly involved. The book's release comes at a time when information must be disseminated, and journalists speak about journalists to enrich trust, experience, and inspiration, creating new momentum for the increasingly progressive and civilized development of the information and press industry, keeping pace with societal progress.
At the book launch, many journalists and researchers also offered their contributions and opinions to help refine the book and ensure its useful application and reference. On this occasion, Song Huong Magazine presented the “A Chronicle of Hue Journalism History (1913 - 2020)” to the Faculty of Journalism and Communication, University of Sciences, Hue University.
