The book launch event was held on July 31 by Hue City Museum of History. Spanning more than 400 pages, the book focuses on 3 main themes, including: Dang Van Hoa’s background, life, and career; his significant contributions to national history and culture; and efforts to preserve and promote the spiritual heritage, tomb, and historical sites he left for later generations.
Le Trai Dang Van Hoa (1791 - 1856), also known as Dang Van Thiem, was the second son of Dang Quang Tuan and Phan Thi Han. The Dang family originated in Ha Trung Village, Phu Vang District, later settled in Hien Si Village in Phong Dien, then registered residence in Bac Vong Dong Village and settled in Thanh Luong Village (now in Kim Tra Ward, Hue City).
Born into the Dang family’s long-standing scholarly tradition in the imperial capital, he devoted nearly 40 years of his life to public service under four Emperors: Gia Long, Minh Mang, Thieu Tri, and Tu Duc.

In every position he held, he left deep marks on irrigation management, dike systems, agricultural development, and the stability of people’s livelihoods. Beyond being an outstanding statesman, he was also a major cultural figure, serving as Director-General of the Bureau of National History, chief editor of several classical texts, and author of the poetry collection ‘Le Trai thi chan ban’, imbued with profound humanism and love for country and people.
