The first Quintessence of Vietnamese Martial Arts Festival - Hue 2025 organized by Hue Festival Organizing Committee in collaboration with the Institute for the Development of National Culture and MicViet Media and Management Joint Stock Company, is the kick-off event for the series of activities celebrating the National Tourism Year in Hue and the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of Hue City.

Taking place from March 21 to 22, the Quintessence of Vietnamese Martial Arts Festival began with a ritual incense offering by the martial arts teams at The Mieu Temple. This was followed by a parade from the Imperial Citadel to Nghinh Luong Dinh, a martial arts parade on the Perfume River, and a ceremony to honor the Martial Arts Saint at the Vo Mieu monument. The highlight of the event was the “Opening Ceremony of the first Quintessence of Vietnamese Martial Arts Festival” held at Ngo Mon Square on the evening of March 21.
In framework of the festival, various activities of exchanging, ensembles, as well as battle performances among the martial arts teams were held. This was considered a playground for martial arts teams to exchange experiences and knowledge. Furthermore, on the afternoon of March 22, a seminar titled “Traditional Martial Arts in Educating the Younger Generation” was held, attracting many opinions and discussions from martial arts masters and researchers about the role and importance of martial arts in educating the youth.

According to the assessment of the organizers, the activities within the framework of the Quintessence of Vietnamese Martial Arts Festival attracted the attention of martial arts teams and sects from all over the country, as well as spectators, and tourists, especially martial arts lovers. This demonstrated the strong appeal of Vietnamese martial arts to the public.
Director of Hue Monuments Conservation Center Hoang Viet Trung informed that the success of the first Quintessence of Vietnamese Martial Arts Festival will serve as a foundation for better editions in the future. Through this festival, the organizers hope to revive martial arts monuments in Hue, such as the Vo Mieu and Xien Vo Tu, by integrating them with daily martial arts activities. The goal is to make Hue a destination for the martial arts community in particular and that of the public in general, heading to establishing the Quintessence of Vietnamese Martial Arts Festival as an annual event that is well-organized and gathers martial arts teams and sects from around the world.
On the afternoon of the same day, a program of exchanging, ensemble, and battle performances with the participation of the martial arts teams was held at Ngo Mon Square, Hue Imperial Citadel.

A large crowd of spectators, including locals and tourists, gathered at Ngo Mon Square to enjoy each impressive and distinctive martial arts performance. The highlight was the performance by the young martial artists.
For the first time being organized, the “Quintessence of Vietnamese Martial Arts Festival” attracted the participation of 18 martial arts teams from various martial arts clubs across the country. Notable clubs included Vo Kinh Van An, Karatedo Nghia Dung, Vovinam team of Hue City; Vietnam Vo Vuong Quyen, Nguyen Gia Vo Dao, Uy Long Mon, Vu Long Quyen, Phung Gia Vo Phai, Binh Dinh Gia Bac Ninh, Mai Long Duong, Vo Ta – Ho Quyen Dao, and Duong Xuan Duong, etc.
