| Promoting, introducing, and expanding markets for agricultural products of ethnic minority communities |
Recently, Hue City Farmers’ Association organized a highland market in the city center during the final days of 2025, aiming to promote, introduce, and expand markets for agricultural products and traditional characteristic craft village goods of ethnic minority and mountainous communities in the area. The market featured 20 booths, including 15 booths showcasing distinctive agricultural and handicraft products and 5 food stalls operated by ethnic minority communities across the city. The booths were attractively designed and displayed a wide range of products certified as VietGAP, organic, or OCOP, ensuring food safety and hygiene.
The highland food area attracted a large number of visitors thanks to its unique specialty products, particularly the well-known A Luoi beef brand, which has long been popular with consumers. While purchasing fresh beef and dried beef specialties from the highlands, Mr. Nguyen Van Vinh from Thuan Hoa Ward shared: “Coming to the market, I learned about the cultural and historical stories behind the products of ethnic minority communities in the highlands, especially the process of building the brand of this fragrant, delicious golden beef specialty.”
Ms. Ke Thi Ha, a household business from A Luoi 2 Commune, expressed: “The market has created more opportunities for our products to expand into wider markets. Contracts have been signed to purchase local specialties such as black glutinous rice, Radu rice, and golden beef, helping ensure stable outlets and increase income for producers.”
With 20 booths at the market, in addition to high-quality food products, booths along both sides were reserved for artisans to display and introduce traditional woven goods and farming tools. Visitors were introduced to the skillful hands of Ta Oi women weaving traditional brocade, drawing admiration and delight from everyone.
According to Mr. Nguyen Chi Quang, Chairman of the City Farmers’ Association, the association has implemented various stimulus and support policies, among which the periodic organization of highland markets is a positive initiative that helps farmers promote and introduce agricultural specialties, stimulate consumption, and increase product value.
Earlier, at the end of August 2025, the City Farmers’ Association also organized an agricultural fair to introduce and promote typical agricultural products, OCOP products, and local specialties to residents and visitors. The fair brought together farmer members from 25 communes and wards and seven enterprises and production facilities, featuring many products certified as VietGAP, organic, and OCOP, ensuring food safety and hygiene. It also introduced new and innovative agricultural models and effective approaches to developing collective economic activities.
Mr. Nguyen Chi Quang emphasized that the City Farmers’ Association will continue to direct all levels of the association to strengthen the application and transfer of science and technology in the production of market-oriented, safe agricultural products, linking production with processing and consumption along value chains for farmers. Special attention will be paid to guiding farmers to meet technical requirements set by buyers, helping maintain long-term commitments to supporting the consumption of agricultural products in the area.
