Expanding air connectivity

HNN.VN - On the afternoon of June 19, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Binh, Standing Member of Hue Party Committee, Standing Vice Chairman of Hue City People’s Committee, held a working session with the Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV) to discuss cooperation on investment promotion and expanding air connectivity, contributing to effectively operate Terminal T2 of Phu Bai International Airport.

At the working session, the ACV’s representatives proposed several strategic cooperation programs, including completing the transportation infrastructure adjacent to the airport; promoting the expansion of international routes from Hue to China (Chengdu), South Korea (Incheon), and Japan, etc.; increasing the promotion of Hue as a destination at international events such as Routes World, ITB Berlin, and ITE HCMC, etc.; boosting communication through aviation digital platforms such as Routes 360; and supporting the locality in promoting on the sister airport systems. The ACV also committed to preferential policies for airlines operating new international routes to Hue, such as a 50% reduction in ground service fees for the first two years, and marketing support of up to 200 million VND per route.

Mr. Nguyen Thanh Binh thanked the ACV for proposing practical cooperation directions that align with local development needs. Mr. Nguyen Thanh Binh acknowledged that although Terminal T2 has been completed and facilitates operations, the number of flights, especially international ones, has not yet met expectations. The city aims to soon have its first international flight, progressing towards expanding more domestic routes, creating momentum for economic and tourism development.

Mr. Nguyen Thanh Binh also suggested that the ACV closely coordinate with Hue to specify support policies, promotional programs, and investment promotion suitable for Hue's orientation to become a cultural, tourism, and specialized medical hub for the region and the world. He called for increasing flight frequencies and new routes, opening more domestic and international routes to attract visitors, supporting airport infrastructure, improving service quality, expanding amenities, and enhancing passenger experience. He also affirmed that the city would accompany the ACV in completing connecting infrastructure, issuing policies to support new routes, and promoting Hue as a destination through domestic and international channels, and creating the most favorable conditions for airlines to operate sustainably.
