Signing Memorandum of Understanding between Hue City and Nara Prefecture

HNN.VN - On the afternoon of June 4, a signing ceremony for the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Hue City and Nara Prefecture (Japan) took place at the Office of City People’s Committee.

Attending the ceremony were Mr. Mori Takero, Consul General of Japan in Da Nang, and Mr. Yamashita Makoto, Governor of Nara Prefecture. Representing Hue City were Mr. Nguyen Van Phuong, Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee and Chairman of the People’s Committee; Mr. Nguyen Thanh Binh, Standing Member of the City Party Committee and Standing Vice Chairman of the City People’s Committee; along with representatives from various departments and agencies.

The MoU were signed with an aim to efficiently expand and develop the friendly relationship between Hue City and Nara Prefecture by enhancing cooperation in various fields beyond the framework of conferences attended by the two localities. At the same time, two localities also agreed to take advantage of the support from international partners in achieving local socio-economic development goals; contributing to enhancing the cooperative relationship between Vietnam and Japan in general and between Hue City and local governments in Japan in particular.

Accordingly, both sides encourage proactively promoting the development of a mutually beneficial cooperative relationship based on respecting the unique characteristics of each locality, exchanging information, and implementing cooperative activities in many areas such as cultural exchange, tourism, healthcare, cultural heritage preservation, labor and employment, agriculture, trade, and investment.

Both sides will continue to coordinate in organizing short-term exchange programs for high school students; dispatching teachers and organizing cultural activities of the two localities; at the same time coordinating in teaching Japanese in Hue and introducing Vietnamese culture in Nara. They will also collaborate on educational projects related to cultural heritage, fostering connections between Hue ancient capital of and Nara Prefecture, the two localities that are recognized by UNESCO for their cultural heritage. At the same time, the two sides will cooperate in developing digital learning platforms and a bilingual Vietnamese-Japanese digital library; create shared educational resources (books, videos, digital lectures) on the history and culture of Vietnam and Japan for students and teachers; and exchange experiences in applying AI and IoT in classrooms and educational management.

According to Chairman of the City People’s Committee Nguyen Van Phuong, the signing of Memorandum of Understanding between Hue City and Nara Prefecture is an important foundation for reaching further expanding and development for the friendly relationship between the two sides in various fields beyond the framework of conference attended by the two localities. It also aims to leverage support from Japanese partners in achieving local socio-economic development goals, and to promote prosperity and development based on equality and mutual benefit for both parties.

In the coming time, Hue City will be proactive in pushing up cooperation with Japanese partners, especially with Nara Prefecture in areas outlined in the signed field.
