According to the representative of The Energy Consulting, the business plans to develop an Alternative Maritime Power - AMP system integrated with the solar power system at Chan May Port. The AMP technology enables vessels to shut down their diesel engines while docked at the port and connect to shore power instead. It will contribute to significantly reducing emissions, noise, and environmental pollution.

Under the proposal, the project comprises a 3 MW solar power system and a 500 kW Alternative Maritime Power (AMP) system. After coming into operation, it is expected to reduce approximately 60,000 tons of CO2 emissions over 20 years. Under the cooperation mechanism between the two parties, 50% of the carbon credits generated by the project will be transferred to the South Korean unit.

The business plans to launch a pilot project at Berths No. 1 and No. 2 of Chan May Port during the 2026-2027 period, with an estimated investment of USD 1-2 million. Following the pilot phase, the project will be further studied for expansion to the port’s back-up area and the remaining berths, to transform Chan May Port into a modern and green port that aligns with the maritime industry’s sustainable development trend.

While expressing his support for the proposed project, Mr. Hoang Hai Minh requested the company to promptly coordinate with the Management Board of Hue City Economic and Industrial Zones, as well as relevant departments, agencies, and units, to complete investment procedures in accordance with regulations, while ensuring consistency with port development and power sector planning.

At the meeting, he also urged the company to develop a clear implementation roadmap and move forward with the project soon, helping transform Chan May Port into a green port. He added that the project would also serve as a driving force for the sustainable development of Chan May-Lang Co Economic Zone, strengthening its role as a key growth engine for Hue City and central Vietnam.
