HNN.VN - On December 12, the Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee Nguyen Van Phuong had a meeting and working session with Mr. Julien Guerrier, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the European Union to Vietnam.

According to Mr. Julien Guerrier, Hue is the third destination after Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh city that he has visited since he took office in September 2023. The EU in general and its member countries in particular are friends of Vietnam, and they have wholeheartedly supported Vietnam’s sustainable goals over the last decades. Believing that with the extensive experience of the EU in sustainable development, green transformation, innovation and creation, as well as modern technology, balancing modernization while preserving cultural heritage and diversity, the EU has many advantages to support Vietnam.

Regarding Hue, Mr. Julien Guerrier shared that the EU members have established cooperation in various fields with the province, including economy, culture, education, and people-to-people diplomacy. It’s believed that with the tradition of long-term cooperation and sustainable development, various investors of EU members will go to Hue and vice versa. Furthermore, the EU also continue to support Thua Thien Hue in green economic development through balanced energy transformation and renewable energy. At the same time, the block will support the fund for innovation through the initiative “Global Gate”; as well as training students learning in the EU, and taking tourists to Hue with the hope that Hue will witness the increasing development while preserving cultural identity.

In the framework of the meeting, Chairman Nguyen Van Phuong expressed his honor and highly appreciated the cooperation, the significant support that the province has received from EU countries in various fields during the province’s construction and development process as well as the effective operation of many EU businesses in the province. On this occasion, he hoped that EU members would continue to support the province in building infrastructure related to transportation, energy, healthcare, culture, education, digital transformation, and innovation.

Chairman Nguyen Van Phuong committed to try his best to ensure a stable environment, at the same time safeguarding the legitimate rights and benefits of the investors, creating favorable conditions for foreign businesses including European businesses to reach the stable, long-term, and effective operation in Thua Thien Hue. He also expressed his desire to enhance cooperation with European partners in the fields of green and digital transformation, climate change adaptation, innovation, and start-ups.
