The city’s Green Tourism Criteria set out green tourism standards, the evaluation and green tourism certification process, applicable to tourist accommodation establishments, tourist attractions, as well as food and beverage service providers. The decision also includes a Green Tourism brand identity system to ensure consistency in communication, promotion, and recognition of qualified units.

The criteria set is structured around key thematic groups, including: general environment; the use of environmentally friendly equipment and materials; waste management and recycling; air quality and noise control; social and community responsibility. For tourist attractions, an additional criterion on sustainable tourism product development is also included.

Participation in the evaluation and certification process is voluntary. Tourism businesses register with the Department of Tourism, provide supporting evidence, and are evaluated and scored by an Appraisal Council in accordance with regulations.

The issuance of the Green Tourism Criteria is expected to create an important shift in developing Hue’s tourism sector in a sustainable direction, contributing to building the image of a “green - clean - bright”, safe, friendly, and culturally rich destination in the coming time.
