In the context of increasingly evident impacts of climate change, the Net Zero goal (net-zero emissions) is of particular significance. Achieving Net Zero is regarded as a key solution to limit the rise in global temperatures within safe thresholds, thereby preventing severe consequences of climate change. To realize this goal, countries around the world must significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions from fossil fuel use, industry, agriculture, transportation, as well as from tourism and travel activities.

Net Zero Tourism aims toward a tourism development model that does not harm the environment throughout its entire operational process. Accordingly, tourism enterprises are encouraged to adopt carbon emission reduction measures, use resources efficiently, minimize plastic waste, and actively engage in the conservation and restoration of natural ecosystems and local cultural values.

Speaking at the conference, Vice Chairman Tran Huu Thuy Giang stated that as the world faces mounting challenges from climate change, biodiversity loss, and environmental pollution, the tourism sector must undergo a strong transformation. Green transition in tourism is no longer an option, but an imperative requirement for long-term and responsible development in the future. City leaders expect the conference to become a platform for knowledge sharing, partnership building, and joint orientation toward green tourism development in Vietnam. Through the event, Hue City also hopes to draw valuable lessons and practical experiences to help realize its green tourism development goals in the coming period.

On the sidelines of the conference, a famtrip program for domestic tourism enterprises was also held in Hue City.
