Hue Traditional Food Week 2024 opens

HNN.VN - On the evening of April 27, at Thuong Bac Park, Dong Ba Ward, the People's Committee of Hue City in collaboration with Phu Dat Gia Co., Ltd. organized the opening ceremony of the Hue Traditional Food Week 2024.

With the orientation of making Hue City one of the members of the UNESCO's creative cities network in the field of culinary creativity by 2025, Hue Traditional Food Week 2024 is organized to honor, preserve, and promote the values of Hue culinary culture, towards organizing an annual event to serve the locals, as well as domestic and international visitors.

Under the theme “Hue cuisine with all localities”, the Hue Traditional Food Week 2024 takes place from April 27 to May 1, with the participation of many provinces and cities, including: Ha Long, Da Nang, Nha Trang, Tay Nguyen, Vung Tau, Kien Giang, Can Tho, Hue, and Ho Chi Minh City, etc.

Being held in a space on the bank of the Huong River, the Hue Traditional Food Week features 71 commercial and culinary booths; with 2 areas of sponsors. They are designed to include an area of “Hue Traditional Food”, which is the main one with 20 booths displaying and demonstrating Hue traditional cuisine. In this area, visitors will be able to participate in experiencing, enjoying, and witnessing the artisans performing dishes through the "Hue Traditional Cuisine" contest.

The area of “Hue cuisine with all localities” brings together the quintessence and culinary specialties of the three regions of North - Central - South. The "Street Food" area gathers 12 booths, creating a space to meet, exchange and enjoy the flavors of diverse and attractive street food. The area of "Introducing commercial products, vegetarian cuisine and Hue OCOP products" is set up with 6 booths of pure Hue vegetarian cuisine, 18 booths of trade and tourism of supporting units, and 5 booths of Hue OCOP products.

According to Mr. Truong Dinh Hanh, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Hue City, through the food week, it is further affirmed that Hue is the place where the quintessence of royal and folk cuisine is preserved. This is also one of the contents contributing to the successful implementation of Resolution 54 of the Politburo on building and developing Thua Thien Hue Province by 2030, with a vision to 2045, with the core content of building Thua Thien Hue to soon become a centrally-governed city on the basis of preserving and promoting the heritage values of the Ancient Capital and the cultural identity of Hue.

In addition to the activities of exchanging and enjoying cuisine, with unique and diverse menus, there are also other activities such as Hue Imperial Capital Night themed “Poetry, the Ao dai and Cuisine”, the 2nd “Culinary space in Hue garden” contest, and a charity program for small traders and students in the city. These activities will enrich the festival’s program, along with art performances, artisans making traditional food, and food processing experience activities.
