This activity is part of the Hue Community Ao Dai Week 2025 (taking place from June 6 to 25, 2025), aiming to honor the traditional cultural beauty, promote the brand name “Hue - The Capital of Ao Dai”, and build Hue's brand name as Vietnam's green city. It also contributes to raising community awareness about environmental protection and preserving cultural heritage values. Simultaneously, it encourages locals and visitors to join hands in community sports movements, improve health, and move towards a “Green - Clean - Bright” Hue.

During the event, about 300 participants from agencies, units, and businesses, wearing Ao dai, cycled through the streets of Hue on a route passing through Quoc Hoc Stele - Le Loi Street - Ga Bridge - Bui Thi Xuan Street - Da Vien Bridge - Le Duan Street - Tran Hung Dao Street - Truong Tien Bridge - Le Loi Street - Quoc Hoc Stele.

Ms. Tran Thi Hoai Tram, Director of the Department of Tourism, stated that the event also aimed to celebrate Vietnam Tourism Day on July 9, and provided an opportunity for units and businesses operating in the tourism and service sectors in Hue City to demonstrate their support and work together to promote local tourism.

The Department of Tourism will continue to focus on diversifying and enhancing the quality of unique, premium, and highly competitive tourism products and services. It will also leverage and promote festivals, and traditional cultural forms to serve the People and develop tourism. This includes focusing on building, promoting, and introducing the images of destinations and unique tourism products, as well as developing tourism brand names such as: “Hue - The Characteristic Festival City of Vietnam”, “Hue - The Culinary Capital”, and “Hue - The Capital of Ao Dai”.

When the ao dai becomes a trend

In 2020, when male officials and civil servants of the Department of Culture and Sports wore ao dai during working days and the weekly flag-raising ceremony, it immediately sparked controversy online. Then, it was not just the cultural sector, at important events, the provincial leaders (now Hue City) and intellectuals also began wearing ao dai. The appearance of the traditional ao dai for both men and women at cultural and educational events made the ceremonies more solemn, elegant, and impressive.
