Defining the fields and products of innovative startups is crucial for developing the innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystem and enhancing the scientific and technological position of Hue City. In an interview with Hue Today Weekly, Ms. Tran Thi Thuy Yen, Deputy Director of the Department of Science and Technology, emphasized that innovation and entrepreneurship in Hue is shifting strongly from a movement to depth, from ideas to products that create real value.

The Department of Science and Technology, in collaboration with the Department of Education and Training, the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union of Hue City, the Thieu Nien Tien Phong & Nhi Dong Newspaper in Hue, and Hue City Post Office, launched the 55th UPU International Letter-Writing Competition in 2026 for students aged 9 to 15.

On the morning of December 29, the Department of Science and Technology held a scientific workshop themed “Analysis and Proposed Solutions to Enhance Local Innovation Index (PII), Digital Transformation, and Develop Hue City’s Innovative Startup Ecosystem for the 2026-2030 period”.

On the afternoon of November 21st, the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) held a workshop titled: “Solutions to Improve the Qualifications of Research work force, Technology, and Business Management Personnel to Apply and Master High Technology and Advanced Technology in Order to Increase Productivity and Quality of Key Products in the City, Aiming toward Developing National Products”. The discussion focused on solutions to elevate Hue cajeput essential oil into a national-level product.

On the evening of November 21, the city’s Union of Science and Technology Associations, in coordination with the Department of Science & Technology, Hue University, the Labor Federation, Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union, and other related units, organized the closing ceremony and award presentation for the 15th Hue City Technical Innovation Contest 2025.

On the morning of October 11th, the People’s Committee of Phong Phu Ward, in collaboration with the Department of Science and Technology, organized a training workshop on artificial intelligence (AI) application skills for officials, civil servants, and employees working in the ward.

On the afternoon of October 11, the University of Sciences, Hue University, in collaboration with the Department of Science and Technology and Hue City Youth Union, organized the 2025 HUSC Robocon Competition.

On the afternoon of October 9th, as part of “Hue - Innovation for Sustainable Development” (Hue Innovation Day 2025) event, a forum was held under the theme “Developing the Private Economy in Connection with Heritage Economy in Hue”. The event was jointly organized by Hue Institute for Development Studies, the Department of Science and Technology, and Hue Monuments Conservation Center.

“Hue Innovation Day 2025” forum (“Hue innovates for sustainable development”) with the theme “Developing the private economy in the digital economy - Opportunities and directions for Hue” and Hue Startup Fair 2025 are being co-organized by Hue Institute for Development Studies, the Department of Science and Technology, and Hue Monuments Conservation Center over two days, October 9 and 10.

On September 22, the Department of Science and Technology organized a training session for the authors and representatives of 30 ideas and projects selected for the semi-final of the 2025 Hue City Creative Startup Competition.
