On November 20, Hue City Red Cross launched the program of presenting 1,000 gifts to households affected and damaged by the recent exceptionally severe floods. The funding was allocated by Vietnam Red Cross Central Committee through the “Joining Hands to Overcome Floods” program, aiming to promptly help residents stabilize their lives after the disaster.

On the morning of October 2nd, at Hue Central Hospital, H.T.N. (45 years old, Thuy Xuan, Hue City) was officially discharged in stable health after nearly three weeks recovering from a remarkable cross-Vietnam heart transplant. This was the 20th successful heart transplant carried out at Hue Central Hospital, marking another important milestone in Vietnam’s field of cardiac surgery and organ transplantation.

On the morning of August 1, Hue City Red Cross held a conference to launch the project titled “Disaster response for animals in Vietnam”. This is the first time that this project has been implemented in Hue with the sponsor from World Animal Protection, an international organization.

Transporting organs by civilian air is a groundbreaking initiative in cross-country organ transplants in Vietnam. The journey of receiving and continuously transporting organs through various means of transportation is filled with countless unpredictable situations. On the morning of January 12, the Standing Committee of the City Youth Union – the Secretariat of the City Committee of the Vietnam Youth Union, in collaboration with Hue Central Hospital, Hue University, Red Cross Society, and the Executive Board of Vietnam Buddhist Sangha in the city, organized the 17th “Red Sunday” voluntary blood donation festival in 2025.

On November 30, the Provincial Department of Tourism, in collaboration with Hue Railway Branch and Hong Ha International Travel Company (Lao Cai), organized a welcoming program for a group of visitors from China, arriving in Hue via a charter train on a nationwide tour.

On July 20th, the provincial Red Cross Society, Oxfam in Vietnam, and the New Zealand Embassy in Hanoi organized a summary workshop for the project “Post-COVID-19 livelihood recovery for female farmers in particularly difficult and for difficult communes in Thua Thien Hue.” The event was attended by Ms. Caroline Rachel Beresford, New Zealand Ambassador to Vietnam.

From Vietnam - Sweden Hospital in Uong Bi, Quang Ninh, 3 donated organs were transported to Hue and transplanted into 3 patients on April 2nd. This marks another record for Hue Central Hospital in cross-Vietnam organ transplantation. Thua Thien Hue Online has documented the speedy journey and efforts to save the lives of patients.
