Hue is a land once at the heart of the nation’s political power, culture, and scholarship; yet, today’s Hue is not merely looking back to the past. The city is quietly preparing for a major transformation, aiming to become Asia’s leading smart coastal heritage city by 2045.

In East Asian culture, horses are not merely a means of transport but a cultural symbol. In Hue during the Nguyen Dynasty, the presence of horses accompanied ceremonial processions and imperial carriages. Even today, that image endures on two bronze urns of the Nine Dynastic Urns - Huyen Dinh and Anh Dinh (the alias of Tu Duc) - like a layer of resilient metallic memory, reminding us that horses once played a role in the life of the former imperial capital.

The year 2026, the first year of implementing Resolution 72-NQ/TW on breakthrough solutions for protecting and improving public health, marks a new turning point for healthcare in Hue City. Building on the strong foundation of Hue Central Hospital, Hue University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Hue University; and a primary healthcare system undergoing comprehensive reform, Hue is steadily affirming its position as a center for advanced, specialized medical care, with a vision toward becoming a regional hub in Southeast Asia.

On November 27, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Hue City People’s Committee Nguyen Thanh Binh had an official meeting with the Organizing Committee of the “100 Flavors - Michelin-Starred Chefs” program.

As part of the 5th Regional Conference of Organization of World Heritage Cities (OWHC) - Asia-Pacific Region, the discussion session on the afternoon of October 15th became one of the most notable highlights of the event. The exchange focused on policies, management experience, and solutions to improve quality of life in cities endowed with unique heritage values.

After three days of active and effective working, the 5th Organization of World Heritage Cities Asia-Pacific (OWHC-AP) Regional Conference officially concluded on October 16. The event brought together more than 50 delegates from 7 countries, including mayors, experts, and representatives of member cities in the region.

On the afternoon of October 14th, as part of sidelines activities of the 5th Regional Conference of the Organization of World Heritage Cities - Asia-Pacific Region (OWHC-AP), Hue City Department of Education and Training organized a World Heritage Quiz Competition in the form of a Rung Chuong Vang (“Ring the Golden Bell”) game for local high school students.

The opening ceremony of the 5th Organization of World Heritage Cities Asia-Pacific (OWHC-AP) Regional Conference took place on the afternoon of October 14 at Silk Path Hotel (Hue City).

From October 14 to 16, Hue City will host the 5th Organization of World Heritage Cities Asia-Pacific (OWHC-AP) Regional Conference with the theme “Quality of life with sustainable development of World Heritage Cities”.

The Tam Giang - Cau Hai lagoon system of Hue City stretches in the Northwest - Southeast direction along the coast, with a length of 68 km and a total surface area of 216 km². It comprises three interconnected lagoons: Tam Giang, Thuy Tu, and Cau Hai. With aquatic flora and fauna considered among the richest in Southeast Asia, this ecosystem has sustained generations of local residents.

The first international flight of the year 2024 just landed at Phu Bai International Airport on January 10th, carrying 226 Korean passengers who have come to visit and experience Hue.
