On the afternoon of January 9, the Department of Tourism held a conference to review its work in 2025 and roll out tasks for the tourism sector in 2026.

Thirteen years after Hue first hosted the National Tourism Year, the event returned to the city for the second time in 2025, opening a gateway to new opportunities. From this series of events, beyond the growth figures, the city has gained valuable experience and a new surge of energy known as the “Aspiration for transformation”.

The 2025 Hue Universities and Colleges Table Tennis Tournament officially opened on the evening of January 5 at the Gymnasium of the Faculty of Physical Education, Hue University. The tournament is a traditional sporting event jointly organized by Hue University and Professional Sports Association, the University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Hue University.

According to initial statistics released by the Department of Tourism, during the 2026 New Year holiday, Hue was estimated to welcome around 85,000 visitors, representing an increase of 25% compared to the same period last year. The number of staying guests reached approximately 45,000 arrivals, up more than 15% year on year.

On the morning of January 4, Hue City Youth Center organized the 3rd Hue City Open Youth Chess Tournament - 2026.

From early 2026, in addition to maintaining current ticket prices, Hue City will significantly expand the groups eligible for free and discounted entrance fees to heritage sites within the Hue Complex of Monuments. The move aims to facilitate access to heritage for residents and students, and to promote sustainable tourism demand.

On the morning of January 1, the Department of Tourism organized a ceremony to welcome the first flight and tourists to Hue by air at Phu Bai International Airport, and a ceremony to welcome the first cruise ship and tourists to Hue by sea at Chan May Port.

On December 30, in Kim Long Ward, Hue City Project Management Board for Construction Investment and Urban Development held a conference to announce the Zoning Plan (1/2000 scale) for the Golf Course Tourism Area located in Kim Long Ward and Binh Dien Commune, Hue City.

On December 29, at the headquarters of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Scientific Council for the appraisal of the Master Plan for the preservation, restoration and rehabilitation of the Complex of Hue Monuments to 2030, with a vision to 2050 met, discussed, and reached a consensus to approve this significant planning content.

On the morning of December 27, the Department of Tourism organized a conference to promote rural tourism in Hue City.
