Hue’s elevation to a centrally-governed municipality from early 2025 has taken place in a special context: the country is undergoing a major administrative restructuring, reducing the number of provinces and cities from 63 to 34. While 52 other localities are expanding through mergers, Hue has chosen a different path - no consolidation, no expansion by aggregation, but an upgrade built on its existing identity and structural foundation.

The Education and Training sector of Hue City continues to leave a strong mark with outstanding achievements, from elite education to organizational restructuring and staff stabilization, affirming its position at the national level.

The “Restructuring the Tourism Sector to Meet the Requirements of Becoming a Key Economic Sector” plan, approved under Decision No. 1685/QD-TTg dated December 5th, 2018 by the Prime Minister, has established an important policy framework for the comprehensive renewal of the tourism sector. On the afternoon of December 31, the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment held a conference to review its 2025 performance and roll out tasks in the field of agriculture and environment in 2026.

The exhibition titled “HER-ITAGE - Restructuring Traditional Embroidery”, held in late September, left many emotions and beautiful impressions on visitors and Hue residents with bridal gowns that carry cultural stories. At the exhibition, viewers could see firsthand the delicate, creative, and soaring carvings, inlays, and cuts of Vietnamese traditional embroidery art shown on vivid patterns of bridal gowns, including Hue royal motifs.

2025 marks the first year of implementing the National Assembly’s Resolution No. 175 on establishing Hue as a centrally-governed municipality, along with the National Assembly Standing Committee’s Resolution No. 1314 on restructuring district- and commune-level administrative units in the newly established Hue City.

On November 30, 2024, the National Assembly passed the Resolution to establish Hue City under the Central Government from January 1, 2025, and the Resolution on the restructuring of district and commune-level administrative units of Hue City, in the 2023 - 2025 period. Hue City (under Thua Thien Hue Province) will be divided into two districts: Phu Xuan and Thuan Hoa.
