The 2026 National Beach Wrestling Championship took place from March 8 to 15 in Bac Ninh, bringing together nearly 600 male and female athletes from 21 provinces, cities, and sectors. Competitors contested 54 weight categories in both the championship and youth championship divisions.

Hue’s elevation to a centrally-governed municipality from early 2025 has taken place in a special context: the country is undergoing a major administrative restructuring, reducing the number of provinces and cities from 63 to 34. On the morning of November 6th, at the Forward Command Headquarters located at the Gia Lai Provincial Military Command, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha, Member of the Party Central Committee, Standing Deputy Head of the National Civil Defense Steering Committee, chaired a hybrid (in-person and online) meeting to urgently implement measures to respond to Storm No. 13 (Kalmaegi) with the provinces and cities of Quang Tri, Hue, Da Nang, Quang Ngai, Gia Lai, Dak Lak, and Khanh Hoa.

On the morning of October 29th, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh chaired an online meeting with central provinces and cities including Hue, Da Nang, Quang Tri, and Quang Ngai to discuss emergency response measures to the extremely severe floods currently affecting the region.
