Rolling out solutions to promote the bundling of tourism products into packages, linking tourism activities with the promotion and consumption of OCOP products and local specialties, while also aligning with the preservation and promotion of cultural heritage values, is among the key tasks that the Prime Minister has requested the tourism sector to prioritize following the Lunar New Year holiday.

Tam Giang - Cau Hai Lagoon system in Hue City is the largest brackish water ecosystem in Southeast Asia, stretching 68 km, covering a total water surface area of approximately 216 km2. The area is renowned for its poetic sunsets, rich biodiversity, and serves as a popular destination for eco-tourism, photography, and enjoying local seafood specialties.

On the morning of March 20, at Phu An Secondary School, Hue City Association for the Protection of Children’s Rights, in coordination with the Department of Culture and Sports, organized the “Happiness for Children” communication program in response to the International Day of Happiness. The event drew the participation of representatives from various departments and agencies, local authorities, the school’s leadership board, parents, and 50 pairs of parents and students.

On the morning of March 20, the Department of Agriculture and Environment, in collaboration with Hue Institute for Development Studies and the project “Hue - A plastic-reduced smart city in Central Vietnam” project (TVA project), organized the “National forum on promoting solutions to reduce plastic packaging through policies and pilot initiatives at the local level”.

At exactly 7:00 p.m. on March 15th, polling stations across Hue City simultaneously closed for the election of deputies to the 16th National Assembly and members of People’s Councils at all levels for the 2026-2031 term. The election was conducted in a serious, democratic, safe, and legal manner.

On the evening of March 14th, at the hall of Nguyen Tri Phuong Secondary School, the Institut Français de Hué, in coordination with Hue Vietnam - France Friendship Association and local educational institutions, organized Francophonie Night 2026. The activity is part of a series of events celebrating International Francophonie Day and attracted a large number of students.

The teams of doctors and medical staff at local health stations play the role of “gatekeepers” of the healthcare system, helping to reduce the burden on higher-level hospitals and bringing healthcare services closer to the residents.

On the morning of March 6, the Department of Industry and Trade coordinated with the Institution for Strategy and Policy Studies under the Ministry of Industry and Trade, organized a workshop to solicit feedback from central and local departments, agencies, experts, and businesses. The consultation was held to complete the Project on Industrial Development of Hue City for the 2025-2030 period, with a vision toward 2045.

On March 3rd, coinciding with the Nguyen Tieu (first Full Moon) Festival of the Year of the Horse 2026, the Department of Agriculture and Environment released nearly 100.000 fish into the Huong River to help restore local aquatic resources. Species included crucian carp, yellow catfish, climbing perch and common carp.

Hue’s elevation to a centrally-governed municipality from early 2025 has taken place in a special context: the country is undergoing a major administrative restructuring, reducing the number of provinces and cities from 63 to 34. While 52 other localities are expanding through mergers, Hue has chosen a different path - no consolidation, no expansion by aggregation, but an upgrade built on its existing identity and structural foundation.
