Phu Bai Industrial Park is steadily asserting its role as a key growth driver of the locality, making significant contributions to the socio-economic development of Phu Bai Ward in particular and the city in general. In this week’s column on Meeting, Mr. Le Ba Minh Hai, Chairman of Phu Bai Ward People’s Committee, shared insights into investment attraction strategies, along with efforts to build a favorable business environment, and orientations toward sustainable development.

On the morning of April 6th, Hue city People’s Committee held the launch ceremony for the “Understanding Online Public Services on the Hue-S Platform 2026” online contest. Ask the people of Hue what flower they love most, and most will likely answer: the apricot blossom. To put it more formally, “hoang mai” - yellow apricot, without a doubt. Don’t believe it? Come to Hue and see for yourself! There’s a whole movement called “Yellow apricot blossom in front of the entrance”; a completed research project on “Conservation and development of Hue’s yellow apricot variety (Hue’s Hoang mai)”; a scientific conference on developing Hue’s Hoang mai into a key local product, aimed at successfully realizing the project to build Thua Thien Hue province (now Hue City) into Vietnam’s yellow apricot homeland. My friend, journalist Minh Tu, even published a book called “In front of the house stands a yellow apricot tree”, which sold out instantly, was reprinted, and translated into foreign languages to great acclaim.

On the occasion of the Lunar New Year of the Horse 2026, on the evening of February 2, Hue City Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, and the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Hue City organized a Spring Reception to meet, congratulate, and express gratitude to diplomatic agencies, international organizations, investors, experts, and friends, who have partnered and cooperated with the locality over the past years.

From areca sheaths once regarded as agricultural waste, Truong Van Toi (born 2000, Hue City) has built a model to produce bowls and plates from areca sheaths, aiming to reduce plastic waste, create livelihoods for local people, and open up an environmentally friendly consumption pathway.

On January 6, Mr. Nguyen Anh, Chairman of Long Quang Commune People’s Committee, said that the commune police, in coordination with Nam Dong Area Forest Protection Unit, had received a rare impressed tortoise voluntarily handed over by a local resident.

After five years of research, development, and implementation of organic agriculture and the circular agricultural economy, Que Lam value chain has demonstrated that this is an effective economic model, creating numerous sustainable livelihoods for local people while contributing to environmental protection and public health.

On the afternoon of December 15, Hue City Department of Health organized a conference to transfer the commune and ward health stations, in their current condition, from the medical centers to the Commune-level People's Committees for management. This is an important step to implement the City People's Committee's decisions on consolidating the organizational model of grassroots healthcare, towards improving management efficiency and promoting the role of local authorities in primary healthcare for People.

In the context of the increasingly extensive development of Vietnam-Japan relations, local cooperation has become an important driving force that fosters strong and lasting ties between the two countries. For Hue - Vietnam’s unique heritage city - Japan is not only a partner in economy, trade, and tourism, but also a special companion in the journey of cultural exchange, people-to-people engagement, and sustainable development rooted in heritage values.
