It was the theme of the Roundtable Sharing Program held on the afternoon of October 18 at Lan Vien Co Tich 2 - Intercultural Meeting Point (No. 94-96-98 Bach Dang Street, Hue City).

From August 24th to 29th, the CIPA 2025 Symposium took place in Seoul, South Korea, with the theme “Heritage Conservation from Digital Data: From Digital Documentation to Data-Based Heritage Preservation”. This major forum brought together nearly 1.000 experts, researchers, and international organizations in the field of conservation.

Alongside preservation of palaces and temples, the heritage conservation efforts in the Ancient Capital also include the care, restoration, and propagation of trees, protecting ancient and precious species within relic sites, helping maintain the harmonious beauty of architecture and nature - a hallmark of Hue’s heritage space.

Through an interdisciplinary approach involving cultural anthropology, sociology, linguistics, and heritage studies, the project “Core elements that create Hue’s identity, a distinctive land in Vietnamese culture - once the Imperial Capital, a center of culture - religion - arts, and a symbol of deep-rooted traditions” seeks to clarify the role and value of Hue’s identity within the broader national culture. At the same time, it suggests directions for sustainable preservation and promotion in the context of modernization and globalization.

On July 10, Ms. Sophie Maysonnave - Counselor for Cooperation and Cultural Activities at the French Embassy in Vietnam, and Director of the French Institute in Vietnam had an official meeting with Hue Monuments Conservation Center before concluding her term of working service in Vietnam.

The companionship of UNESCO and the international community has not only helped Hue’s heritage overcome difficult times but also gradually brought the preservation efforts of Hue’s heritage to reach international standards.

Hue is asserting its pioneering role in preserving and promoting heritage values, from tangible treasures to intangible performance spaces. A journey of “preservation for revival” with long-term vision, modern technology, and initiatives close to young people.

During her trip to Hue, Ms. Sandrine, a French tourist, and her group were amazed by how green the city was. With admiration, she asked: “What has enabled Hue to balance economic development with heritage and natural resource preservation?”

On April 21st, a delegation from Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism held a working session with Hue Monuments Conservation Center (HMCC) to discuss the National Target Program for Cultural Development.

It may seem easy to dream of a day when Gia Hoi “revives,” not only preserving its essence and cultural heritage values, but also seizing the opportunity for this ancient quarter to develop. The preservation of heritage values in this ancient quarter located east of the Hue Citadel, however, is facing many challenges and conflicts.
